Time to rant...

* Today I dropped Ella off at Daycare, her first big day 9:30 - 3. She walked right in and went into the little house in the corner, stuck her head out the window that faced a 9 month old and said "Hieeeeee". 

* I find it funny how I was so worried about how she would do after being with me for 5 months. 

* 5 months, ahhh, my time of leisure is coming to a close where I will have to join the world 

of spreadsheets, e-mails, samples, meetings, conference calls, binders, notepads - do I even know how to do all of that anymore? 

*I think all the time how lucky I am to have been able to share half of Ella's life with her at home.

Top 5 reasons I love living east:

1. Seasons

2. Can go to the grocery store, shop and then have it delivered, for free

3. Train to the city, the mountains, the ocean (that you can SWIM in)

4. Pizza

5. It is only 4 1/2 hours away from Amsterdam

today & flight 666

We are so blessed to have such an avenue for media at our fingertips.

Here is my morning.

Don't feel good, so decide to get my computer from work and work from home and rest.

Wish I didn't have to do the work part, but that is just how it goes.

So I am home and eating some breakfast, reading through Arkitip's site and I come to

the same you tube trailer, I have below. It is for Iron Maiden's Flight 666 movie on their

it's been awhile

Few things that have been going on...

1. tonight Ella clipped her lip on the coffee table and we have never seen so much blood. 

she cried for a second then started laughing. she is one tough cookie. i think it was harder on me and her dad than her.

2. i have decided that i am going to make a quilt for our bed. i have never made a quilt before but my mom makes one every month. so i know who to go to when i have questions. i am thinking the color combo will be dark purple, pale yellow, orange and lime.  kinda of like your favorite sherbert when you were 5 yrs old.

3. i bought a bunch of flannel and velcro to make drool catchers and sell on etsy. my shop will happen this summer. 

4. today we got our tv hooked up with HD and it is Game 1 of Cleveland vs Magic. I really feel like we are sitting court-side. I never thought I would be a tv junkie but this is really cool. 

5. Ella is about to be 1 year old and lately I have been having major flash backs last few days I was pregnant, birth and they way she felt inside. I wonder if all moms go through this. 

how to eat sushi

Went to my favorite sushi place Moki's in Bernal Hill. Their fish is very fresh and oh so delicious. I remembered that I had seen this video before and thought that I would bring it up again. It is really funny. 

another year

i am another year older

yet things remain the same:

  - beer makes me burp

  - i still love cheesy romantic comedies

  - no matter how many de-frizzing hair products i buy,

     my hair will still get frizzy in the rain

  - i still wear a size 5 and 7 1/2 shoe

  - joy division 'permanent' still makes me smile and sing along

Butter Battle book

Just read the article about North Korea's missle and all I can think of is the Butter Battle book by Dr Suess.  War games are too big of an issue for someone like me to try an understand why. I just wish I could send a copy of the book to everyone in the UN for some perspective on how "silly" it can all be.

Daryl Hannah has a blog - dhlovelife - did you know that? Well, it started out as a video blog, with her travels to great sustainable places (there is a clip on a restaurant that is a completely vegan burger joint, with a strippers pole) and all the people that she meets who are doing their best to change the world. I discovered it a few years ago and had not checked it since the birth of Ella...and to my surprise, she has a shop. Not just any shop..you can buy a teepee,  a ranch biobeast and an adorable cardboard playhouse.  Go get lost within DHlovelife, it's fun.

Yurt people

Nick, Ella and I went up to Tahoe over the weekend, Ella's first time in the snow I might add. What we have decided, as a family, as that we are going to become Yurt people. That could be me in the photo. And that makes me happy. 

This summer we are going to search for some land in the woods, a grand place for our Yurt and garden. I would love to have some type of water on this said land, river, lake..anything will do. I poked around on the interweb alittle tonight and found some land up in Lake county, 2.2 acres for about 45K. Not bad. Add 25K for the Yurt and we have a lovely summer home for 70K. 

I cant wait for summer.

For my next project I want to do a collage of fabric on a bag and one of the objects is a tree. Here are some things I came across in my research:

This group is called the Tree Community and you need to click on their name to reach their website. I suggest that you check them out, just goes to show that there is alot in this world we don't even see.

We just watched Royal Tennenbaum's, so I wondered if there was anything in the pipeline for Wes...and there is "the Fantastic Mr Fox" it is stop motion with the lovely Cate Blanchet as Mrs Fox, George Clooney as Mr Fox and Bill Murray as...? we will have to wait and see..

Here is a synopsis:

Mr. Fox, Mrs. Fox, and all their fox babies live under a hill under a tree, along with Badger, Rabbit, Weasel, and all of their families. To make ends meet, every night, Mr. Fox steals a meal from one of the three crooked farmers--Boggis, a chicken farmer, Bunce, who has a little bit of everything but only eats duck liver, and Bean, who farms turkeys and apples and subsists solely on apple cider. With his keen sense of smell, and the farmers' distinctive diets, Mr. Fox has no problem evading them.

After so much treatment, the greedy farmers band together to end Mr. Fox. They ambush him at the base of his hole in the hill, and while Mr. Fox survives, his tail does not. Thus begins an obsession on the part of the farmers. They first try to dig the foxes out, but they are outdug by eight sets of paws. Then, they move to starving them out. This is unfortunate, as no other creatures living under the hill (though now more of a valley; a bulldozer was involved at one point) can get out, either. Mr. Fox is not a very popular figure until he chances across the idea of digging under the farmhouses...

He originally started out in the 60's by using explosions to blow out craters in Mill Valley California and has since shown in many museums throughout the world with a show coming up in Brussels at the Kaai theater. Check out his website homeport, you can get lost in all the type.

Diorama

I was thinking that it was about time for me to make a new diorama, and out of curiosity I thought I would check out the world wide web. I found this cute one above, it has really cute robots. But what I really found was a new website to look at called "quirky japan".  It's like an off the beaten path tour guide, there are some real gems in there..check it out. 

oh babies and halloween

I really wish that the pictures were bigger, sorry. The last one is a christmas ornament, I find it so funny to think that your child would want to be an ornament. The shark and billy goat make me giggle as well. I am having alot of fun this Halloween looking through all of these costumes. There is really something out there for everyone and just this mix alone, states it very well.

The renovated  Academy of Science in Golden Gate park, SF, is now open and I couldn't be happier. It is such an amazing place with lots to see.  I wish I took a pic of the penguins, they are too cute and stinky...who knew
