Eggs

Every year we go to Nick's Dad's house for Easter and color eggs. These were my faves from this year's crop.

Quilts my mom made me

Wedding quilt - she has been working on this quilt for over a year and it is finally finished. This is Nick and I's wedding quilt. Quite amazing.

We went to Paris in 2003 and afterwards she compiled the photos from our trip into this quilt. The middle picture is a haiku I wrote on the plane. I especially love the edges of the quilt because it says " Je voudrais dix timbre posts, sil vous plais" I would like 10 stamps, please. We were outside a post office and my mom really wanted to go and get stamps all on her own, so I was telling her what to say. We were probably outside of this post office for an hour laughing so hard (tears rolling down our face) because she was having a hard time remembering the phrase. It is one of my most favorite moments with my mom.

mama's house

I made this diorama for my mom one year for her birthday. This was the start of my series of animals eating ice-cream and burgers.
Collection of things in my mom's sun porch, which has a western theme.
Bookshelf in her sitting room. The cubby in the middle on the bottom holds all of my old doll house furniture.
Another view of the sun porch

I love all of my mom's things. She has alot of stuff, but it is all very interesting to look at and has a story. She moved a few years ago from a 4 bedroom into a 2 bedroom. I always wondered then how she would get everything into the smaller space. She did and managed to bring in something new to the place as well.

forever young

Lately I have been doing these home beauty remedies and I have to say..I LOVE them. I bought this book by Bharti Vyas a few years back and until recently it has been tucked away. But not anymore.  The book consists of massage techniques, best practices in nutrition for a natural glow and how to solve common problems.
My favorite mask is the healing mask. You take 2 tsp honey, 1/4 sea salt and 1 tsp tumeric. place on face for 30 minutes and wash off. I usually wash with Cetaphil after, since the tumeric sometimes can leave a little stain. Just be careful as you wait, it gets drippy too. But after you do this mask, your skin is sooo soft. It's amazing.
Try it :)

Butter Battle book

Just read the article about North Korea's missle and all I can think of is the Butter Battle book by Dr Suess.  War games are too big of an issue for someone like me to try an understand why. I just wish I could send a copy of the book to everyone in the UN for some perspective on how "silly" it can all be.
Here is a clip I found on You Tube of someone's interpretation of the butter battle book. I would also suggest you pic up a copy.
